Diego Navarro conducts the recording of a Hollywood movie soundtrack in Tenerife

“6 Mirand Drive”, directed by Greg McLean, starring Kevin Bacon and Rhada Mitchel, was recorded in Tenerife at the Auditorium Adan Martín, performed by the OST (Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife), conducted by composer Diego Navarro, director of the Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ).
The details of this event were revealed at a press conference, given on June the 20th, by the Councilor of Culture and President of the OST, Cristóbal de la Rosa, the composer Johnny Klimek, the director of the orchestra Diego Navarro, and the recording producer Pedro Mérida. The director of the film joined the conference from Australia through Skype.
Cristóbal de la Rosa stated: “this is historic for our Symphony Orchestra, since it is the first film score recorded for an international movie, which is a challenge”. Pedro Mérida underlined that the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife is the first in Spain to record a Hollywood soundtrack.
Johnny Klimek (“Perfume, the story of a murderer”) was a guest composer at Fimucité 2008, together with Ramin Djawadi (“Game of Thrones”). Ever since that first visit, he has been closely attached to the Islands, Klimek is sure it is going to be the first recording of many to come since it is a first class orchestra.
McLean (“Wolf Creek” and”Rogue”) has been able to listen to some of the recorded pieces and is thrilled with the result, together with Diego Navarro, who is very proud to direct this fantastic project, supported by Mérida, recording producer, and Kike Perdomo, sound engineer. “6 Miranda Drive” is produced by BlumHouse (“Insidious”, “Paranormal Activity” saga, “Sinister” or “The Purge”).
Recording “6 Miranda Drive” in Tenerife is a long cherished dream for the Director of FIMUCITÉ, made possible through the support and great coordination of the Patronato Insular de Música de Cabildo de Tenerife (the Musical Board of the Island’s Government) and Auditorium Adán Martín. This is also a great opportunity for all composers and film directors to see the talent of Tenerife musicians and to entrust them the recording of their soundtracks with top quality outcomes.
This recording also increases the popularity of the Canary Islands in the film industry after the shooting of “Clash of the Titans” and “Fast and Furious 6” in local natural landscapes.
