Diego Navarro receives the Medal of Cultural Merit of the City
The following are the words of Mayor José Manuel Bermúdez as he shared the news that Diego Navarro has received the Medal of Cultural Merit of the City in recognition of his career as a composer and conductor.
“Diego Navarro is, from today on, a recipient of the Medal of Cultural Merit of the City, in its Gold category, and he is so with all merits.
The pride he feels when he speaks of his origins outside our borders, thousands of kilometres from these Atlantic Islands, is comparable only to that felt by all the chicharreros and chicharreras who share their community and roots with someone who is one of the most outstanding personalities of the Canary Islands. .
For a few weeks every year, he turns Santa Cruz de Tenerife into the world capital of film music with FIMUCITÉ.”
