Diego Navarro triumphs at the Walt Disney Concert Hall
To an immense and emotional standing ovation at the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Diego Navarro reached a new professional milestone with his debut in the hall, conducting the Los Angeles Film Orchestra and the SoCal Chorale in the 40th Anniversary Suite of “Conan the Barbarian”.
His performance was introduced by two videos, the first from Francis Ford Coppola, and the second with Arnold Schwarzenegger. The legendary director of “Conan the Barbarian”, John Milius (writer of Apocalypse Now), offered a few words in person and, immediately afterwards, Robert Townson introduced the Canary Islands composer. The world premiere of the 40th Anniversary Concert Suite from “Conan the Barbarian,” performed by the Los Angeles Film Orchestra and the SoCAL Chorale, beautifully directed by Mary Lou Basaraba, brought the house down, culminating in an uproarious standing ovation from everyone in attendance.
