Following the creation of the Spanish Audiovisual Music Awards in 2018, the Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ) has the pleasure of hosting the Musimagen: Asociación de Compositores de Música para Audiovisual awards ceremony for the second year running (Musimagen: Association of Audiovisual Composers). The II Spanish Audiovisual Music Awards will be held on Friday 27th September in the Auditorio de Tenerife Adán Martín. As part of the 13th edition of the FIMUCITÉ festival award winners will be announced prior to the start of the concert ‘My Favourite Fears’ / ‘Mis terrores favoritos’. The 13th edition of the festival has been made possible this year thanks to the support & sponsorship of the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Canary Islands Government, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council.
Musimagen has announced the nominees of the II Spanish Audiovisual Music Awards for each of its three audiovisual music categories: series; electroacoustic music; and orchestral scores. In the category Series, nominees this year are Iván Martínez Lacámara & Manel Santisteban for ‘Vis a Vis: Temporada 3’, Zacarías Martínez de la Riva for ‘Secretos de Estado’, and Osvaldo Montes for ‘La víctima número 8’. In the category Electroacoustic audiovisual music the nominated composers are Arnau Bataller for ‘El desentierro’, Alberto Torres for ‘Cómprame un revólver’, and Pablo Cervantes for ‘Jaulas’. In the category Orchestral scores nominees are Vanessa Garde for ‘La gran aventura de los Lunnis y el libro mágico’, Diego Navarro for ‘El fotógrafo de Mauthausen’, and Juan Bardem for ‘El Reina’.
More than 200 members of Musimagen had the opportunity to vote for their favourite works from 2018. According to the rules and regulations governing the voting system of the II Spanish Audiovisual Music Awards, which was created to recognise the efforts of audiovisual composers in Spain, composers cannot vote for their own works to ensure the voting system is fair and winners accepted with complete equanimity. This awards ceremony in which professionals of the audiovisual music sector vote for award winners is the first of its kind in Spain.
Winning scores will be announced during the awards ceremony. During the evening’s events, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife under the baton of the festival’s director, the composer Diego Navarro, will perform a suite that unites the three film scores nominated for Best Orchestral Score. The winning score in this section will then be published by Musimagen.
FIMUCITÉ 13 will run from 20th – 29th September with the support and sponsorship of the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Canary Islands Government, Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, Audi Canarias, and the Teleférico del Teide, and the collaboration of SGAE – the Spanish General Society of Authors and Publishers, amongst others.
