Official presentation press conference of “The Abrahamic Symphony: Unity of Three” project

This morning, the project “The Abrahamic Symphony: Unity of Three” was presented at a press conference at the Cabildo de Tenerife, for which the Abu Dhabi Festival, through prestigious producer Robert Townson of Robert Townson Productions, who serves as producer and artistic director of the project, has entrusted Diego Navarro with the musical direction of this great event structured in two parts: the first, that will take place in March 2022 with the recording in Krakow of this ambitious choral symphonic work, and a second phase with the world premiere of the virtual concert on YouTube. Maestro Navarro was joined at the table by the Vice President of the Cabildo and Minister of Culture Mr. Enrique Arriaga and, live from Los Angeles, producer Robert Townson.

This musical commission has been made to mark the upcoming inauguration of The Abrahamic Family House: Unity of Three. The project, conceived by prestigious architect Sir David Adjaye OBE, consists of the construction of a mosque, a church, a synagogue and an educational center on Saadiyat Island, the cultural heart of Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates. Through its design, it captures the shared values between Judaism, Christianity and Islam, serving as a powerful platform to inspire and foster understanding and acceptance among people of good will. A triple architectural creation that values mutual understanding, harmonious coexistence and peace between people who make up different religions being built in Abu Dhabi. It is the first time that three large temples of the major religions have been built in the same location, in Muslim territory. A historical event, for which the composition of three symphonic pieces corresponding to each of the creeds and temples has been commissioned, which will be written by famous composers John Debney, in the case of the Christian church, David Shire in that of the synagogue and Ihab Darwish in the case of the mosque.

In this 80-minute choral symphonic piece, three choirs representing different religions will participate, as well as various international soloists of great renown along with the Orkiestra Akademii Beethovenowskiej from Poland. It is an immense honour that they have placed their trust in a Tenerife artist to assume the orchestral direction of both projects, both the recording and the world concert premiere. This is an unparalleled cultural and religious event, which will make history, which transcends all faiths and with values that go beyond even religion. In these times we live in, the fact that a work of this magnitude is carried out in Muslim territory is a glowing sign of hope.
