Success at the 16th Edition of the Festiwal Muzyki FIlmowej w Krakowie 2023

Diego Navarro has returned home after having faced the challenge of conducting the central production of the 16th edition of the Festiwal Muzyki FIlmowej w Krakowie 2023, masterfully performed by the Orkiestra Akademii Beethovenowskiej.

The endless standing ovation from the audience at the wonderful Ice Krakow at the end of the concert still resonates within him. It was a huge challenge, but he had tremendous fun.

The highlight of the event came at the end of the concert, when he conducted the world premiere of the spectacular suite for orchestra and choir from “Avatar, the Way of Water” by Simon Franglen. The concert performed the fascinating “Gravity” by Steven Price and also “Hidden Figures” by Benjamin Walfish, among others. Without a doubt, the most special moment for Navarro was when he took his turn to direct “Mira la Luna”, the score that he himself wrote for the documentary film produced by Elias Querejeta and Jordi Gasull, which narrates the life of the first Spanish NASA astronaut, Miguel López Alegría. He created a special suite for the Festival, and it turned out to be one of the great moments of the concert.

Here is a short summary of the premiere of “Avatar, The Way of Water” at the “OUT OF SPACE” concert conducted by Maestro Navarro at the 16th Festiwal Muzyki FIlmowej w Krakowie 2023:
